TAA BOARD AWARDS BID
FOR MAINTENANCE FACILITY; RENTAL CAR PAVING
At their meeting today, the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) board of directors awarded two contracts:
Lane Wyatt Construction submitted a bid of $6.3 million to build a 43,135 sq. ft. warehouse and maintenance facility east of the terminal, on E. Airport Drive, north of the airfreight apron. The complex will house TAA field maintenance employees, auto shop, electricians, and painters, as well as the warehouse. Designed by M3 Engineering & Technology Corp., and scheduled for completion in 2009, the project also includes site work and utilities. The job is being funded by TAA reserves, with reimbursement from future airport rates and charges.
Southern Arizona Paving was named to pave and reconstruct parking lots and one roadway at the rental car overflow lot, the rental car Quick Turn Around lot, the Cell Phone Waiting lot, and fuel farm D roadway, for $835,360. The projects, engineered by Kimley-Horn & Associates, are being funded by TAA reserves, with reimbursement from future airport rates and charges. The work is slated to begin this month and expected to be completed this fall.
