SOUTHWEST IMPRESSIONS PART 2
NOW ON DISPLAY IN THE LINK GALLERY AT TIA

      Southwest Impressions Part 2 is now on display in Tucson International Airport’s (TIA) Upper Link Gallery through July 31, 2007. This group show brings together paintings from the members of the Southwestern League of Fine Arts. The exhibit consists of 32 paintings by 11 members.

     The Southwestern League of Fine Arts is a group of local artists specializing in two dimensional work using acrylic, watercolor, and multi-media. Many of the artists specialize in plein-air painting.

     Also on display at TIA is Textures. Textile artist Barbara Brandel uses acrylic paint, pastel, oil-stick, pencil, and gesso on paper. Several of the paintings include stamps, buttons, or Mylar. Ceramists O’Brien’s roughly textured platters and vessels are brightly colored using glazes that are a three dimensional surface. They add as much form to a piece as does the clay.

     Tucson’s Early Childhood Community Celebrates Month of the Young Child with an exhibit of children’s art in west baggage claim (Baggage Belt 1) at TIA. This exhibit is jointly sponsored by the City of Tucson Mayor’s Office and the Southern Arizona Association for the Education of Young Children and will be on at the airport exhibit through June 30, 2007.

     Continuing in the Lower Link Gallery are photographs from local photographer Pamela L. Reed. A series of images Days Gone By- The Aircraft of the Boneyard and the Pilots That Flew Them. This exhibit will run through May 31, 2007.
