SOUTHWEST AIRLINES ADDS SECOND NONSTOP
FLIGHT TO THE WINDY CITY MAY 13
Southwest Airlines will add a second nonstop flight to Chicago Midway Airport May 13, 2007. This will bring the number of daily departures available from Tucson on Southwest Airlines to 19.
The new flight departs Tucson at 7 a.m. and arrives in Chicago at 12:20 p.m. The return flight departs Chicago at 12:45 p.m. and arrives in Tucson at 1:35 p.m. The second flight departs Tucson at 12:10 p.m. and arrives in Chicago at 5:30 p.m. The return flight departs Chicago at 7:15 p.m. and arrives in Tucson at 8:45 p.m.
In addition, Southwest Airlines offers two daily nonstop roundtrip flights to Albuquerque, six to Los Angeles, six to Las Vegas, and three to San Diego.
In 2006, the airline carried 1,269,117 passengers, over 30% of Tucson’s travelers. They are the largest carrier in Tucson, followed by American Airlines, with 22.6% of the total market – 957,660 passengers.
There are currently 12 airlines serving Tucson with over 80 daily departures flying to 24 destinations. Those airlines include: Aerolitoral, Alaska. American, Continental, Delta/SkyWest, ExpressJet, Frontier, Jet Blue, Northwest, Southwest, United, and US Airways.
Nonstop destinations from Tucson include: Albuquerque; Atlanta; Austin; Chicago (O’Hare Airport); Chicago (Midway Airport); Dallas-Ft. Worth; Denver; Hermosillo, Mexico; Houston; Kansas City; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Minneapolis/St. Paul; Newark; New York; Ontario, CA.; Phoenix; Sacramento; Salt Lake City; San Antonio; San Diego; San Francisco; Seattle/Tacoma; Washington D.C. (Dulles Airport).
