LINOLEUM CUT PRINTS AND GLASS PAINTINGS:
TWO NEW EXHIBITS AT TUCSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Work by Chrissy Goral, Mary Lou Williams and Mary Lucking and are on display at Tucson International Airport.

Electrified, a series of paintings on glass by Chrissy Goral, is on display in the TIA Center Gallery through June 30, 2008. A Tucson based artist and co-creator of the Flash Gallery. Ms. Goral works with mixed media combining recycled materials such as doors & windows with acrylic paint and unusual lighting techniques to create luminous paintings using classic iconography. The ethereal and whimsical work consists of familiar romantic images, as well as some local icons that will be recognizable to many long-time Tucsonans. For more information visit www.ChrissyGoral.com.

Linocut, an exhibit of linoleum cut prints by long-time painter, designer and illustrator Mary Lou Williams, and public artist Mary Lucking will be on display in Tucson International Airport’s (TIA’s) Upper Link Gallery starting May 5, 2008, continuing through July 31, 2008.

Ms. Williams carves with a chisel knife into a rubber-like or linoleum surface, called a “block”, the designs are created in reverse so the final print will look like the original planned composition. Hand-painted with watercolors, each print is distinctively different. Examples of Ms. Williams’ work can be seen at www.CorazonFineArtPrints.com.

Ms. Lucking uses a similar technique. Her small woodcut prints are a collection of works illustrating seed pods found around Tucson. Her large prints are the first in an ongoing series of prints blown up to many times their real scale. Examples of Ms. Lucking’s work can be seen at www.lizardacres.com.

Continuing through May 31, Subtleties, an exhibit in TIA Lower Link Gallery, features work from artists, Susan Cummings and Ann Tracy-Lopez. Susan Cummings’ series of fine art prints entitled Transportationscapes are aerial in nature and have a wispy sense of clouds as glimpsed through the window of an airplane.

Ann Tracy-Lopez’s work combines words and images on wooden panels, canvases or collages piecing formal sections of paint side by side with playful sections of mixed media in order to create small collages or large-scale collage oil paintings. For more information visit www.anntracylopez.com.

These exhibits are a part of the TAA’s Arts & Culture Program. To learn more visit www.tucsonairport.org.
