Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) are at TIA August 16-20 to examine Tucson Airport Authority Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. This is the fifth time TAAPD has gone through this process. TAA PD first obtained CALEA accreditation in 1996, and must reapply every three years. As part of the assessment, the community is invited to offer comments on the TAA Police Department’s ability to comply with CALEA standards and the quality of service provided at an open forum on Monday, August 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at TIA in the Santa Rita Room, third level center core. In addition, comments can also be made by calling 573-8350 on Monday, August 18 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. or in writing. Telephone comments that address the department’s ability to comply with CALEA standards and quality of service will be taken by the assessment team and are limited to 10 minutes.
