SCOTT DRIVER NAMED TO CONTINUE ON
U.S. CONTRACT TOWER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Scott Driver, Director of the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) Flight Line and Ryan Airfield has been asked to continue on the Contract Tower Board of Directors.

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) created the U.S. Contract Tower Association (USCTA) in 1996 to promote the FAA contract tower program and to enhance aviation safety at smaller airports. The USCTA coordinates contract tower issues on a regular basis with Congress, and other federal agencies.

Ryan Airfield was approved for the FAA contract tower program in 1996. With nearly 250,000 takeoffs and landings annually, Ryan is currently the 3 rd-busiest Contract Tower in the country. The only two Contract Towers busier than Ryan are both in Arizona – Chandler and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway.

The Program, and the Ryan tower, have an extraordinary safety record and are very cost-effective. Ryan has had no operational errors for over 10 years and over 1.8 million operations. The safety and efficiency claims of the Program have been repeatedly studied and validated by FAA, NTSB, and the DOT Office of the Inspector General.

Mr. Driver moved to Tucson in 2003 from Santa Monica, California, where he was the General Manager of the American Flyers Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at Santa Monica Municipal Airport, joining TAA as Director of Ryan Airfield. In 2006, he accepted additional responsibility for all air carrier fueling at Tucson International Airport (TIA) and for the management of the TIA Executive Terminal.

He is a commercial pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings and has endorsements for high performance, complex and tailwheel aircraft. He also is a licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic with Inspection Authorization. Mr. Driver holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business and Philosophy from Cornell College and holds an Associate degree in Aviation Technology from Laramie County Community College.
