DATE OF DISTRIBUTION: March 4, 2008 FOR RELEASE UPON RECEIPT DIET ALERT: At 15 cents per pound, the 99s International Organization of Women Pilots scholarship fund raiser might be just the incentive to shed a few extra pounds. Scheduled for Saturday March 29, 2008, at Ryan Airfield, the event starts at 8 a.m. with ticket sales ending at 11 a.m. and rides continuing until everyone has gone aloft. The organizers explain that passengers, and whatever they plan to take on board the general aviation aircraft for the 20 minute ride - backpacks, purses, cameras - will be included in the weight total. In addition to the rides, other a ctivities include tours of the Air Traffic Control Tower, flying videos, opportunities to create aviation “chalk art”, and an opportunity to participate in a supervised FOD (Foreign Object Debris) walk. Refreshments will be available for sale, something to look forward to after the weigh-in. If that’s not enough, rubber necking opportunities abound. With the sixth busiest control tower in the country, Ryan Airfield is home to several training schools and a host of interesting aircraft. Not to mention more than 30 tenants and 260 based aircraft. There will be no shortage of fun things to watch. For more information visit www.Tucson99s.org. T-A-A |
