SUBTLETIES : AN EXHIBIT OF MIXED MEDIA BY SUSAN CUMMMINGS
AND ANN TRACY-LOPEZ AT TUCSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Subtleties, an exhibit in Tucson International Airport (TIA) Lower Link Gallery, features work from artists, Susan Cummings and Ann Tracy-Lopez. This new temporary show will be on display through May 31, 2008.
Susan Cummings’ series of fine art prints entitled Transportationscapes are aerial in nature and have a wispy sense of clouds as glimpsed through the window of an airplane.
Ann Tracy-Lopez’s work combines words and images on wooden panels, canvases or collages piecing formal sections of paint side by side with playful sections of mixed media in order to create small collages or large-scale collage oil paintings.
Tracy-Lopez states, “Each piece is based on a single moment in a special place. I think of my collages as travel journals, recording the place and my feelings there.”

Also on exhibit, Making a Point, a series of cast paper paintings by Ron Nelson, is on display in the TIA Upper Link Gallery through April 30, 2008. The exhibit features colorful, close-up images of cactus constructed from cast paper. Created almost entirely of recycled materials - shredded newspaper mixed with water, house paint to bind it together, with mill ends for the framing - the images have a three dimensional quality.
