SCULPTURES BY CURT BRILL
NOW ON DISPLAY AT TUCSON INTERNATIONAL

The sensuous bronze sculptures of nationally acclaimed artist Curt Brill are now on display in the Upper Link Gallery at Tucson International Airport. Standing, sitting, lounging, the lifesize curvaceous figures can’t be ignored.

Brill’s handprints are visible in the clumps of clay that have been pinched, stretched and molded into layers forming the exaggerated extremities of his engaging humans. With large feet, elongated arms and and legs, the bodies appear almost reptilian. They are unpretentious everymen unengaged with their surroundings while clearly considering the meaning of their existence.

The gangly figures are friendly and funny. The artist states, “My search in the visual arts is for the hidden Human spirit. That small part that makes us each unique, yet finds us a common home. I have been a paid professional as well as an active volunteer in state run mental institutions, private and county run nursing homes and been a drug rehabilitation counselor. Overriding this vein is the love of movement and dance and the shear joy of a good laugh. These feelings find expression three - dimensionally in clay, plaster, wax and metal. In my pieces I first search for that bit of movement, then I search for the humor to help carry me through the piece, and in completion I search for serenity.”

A longtime Tucson artist, Mr. Brill primarily shows his work out of town. This exhibit also features some of his sketches, wall bronzes and paintings. To see more of his work go to www.curtbrill.com.

The exhibit will be on display until the end of May.
