PAINTINGS BY KEN FIGUEREDO
A NEW EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY AT TUCSON INTERNATIONAL

Abstract Series 2, a group of acrylic paintings by Ken Figeredo is now on display in the Center Gallery at Tucson International Airport.

Are the images on these large colorful canvases the contents of a candy box (Ju Ju Bees in Flight Saturday Delite) or space junk (Nova Interrupted)? Plankton (Aquatic Views) or primeval ooze (Floating Shapes)? The shapes squish and squirm right off the wall not familiar exactly, but organic and friendly enough to want to touch.

The paintings impart a sense of space, a feeling of stillness yet are filled with energy. Monkey mind. The artist states, “My paintings begin with one idea which slowly evolves, using biomorphic shapes and color to create movement and depth throughout the composition. I love color and use one against another to catch the viewers' attention. I feel abstract paintings dominate the space in which they occupy and therefore, I like to work in a large format.”

This exhibit also features six small work on paper and masonite. Other works by Mr. Figueredo include landscapes, still lives and abstracts. To see images from Figueredo’s Abstract Series 2 and more of his work go to www.kenfigueredo.com.

The exhibit will be on display on the ticketing level until the end of June. Go to www.tucsonairport.org for details of TAA’s Arts & Culture Program.
