Tucson Airport Authority Names John Ivanoff
Chief of Police

      John Ivanoff has been named the Chief of Police for the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA). Chief Ivanoff will be responsible for the daily operations and management of the TAA Police Department.

      Chief Ivanoff joined the Tucson Airport Authority in 1988. He rose through the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain before being named as the Chief on February 4, 2009. John has served as a Crime Prevention Officer, Field Training Officer and SWAT Team member. John is also the Airport Security Coordinator for TAA, working closely with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure the safety of the TAA employees, tenants and travelling public. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Pima County Regional SWAT team.

      John is actively involved with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and has helped the Tucson Airport Authority Police Department gain five re-accreditations over a twelve-year span of time.

      John is a Tucson native whose family has lived in Tucson for several generations. Because of his strong ties to Tucson, he serves on his local little league board, and also coaches baseball. He is also a strong advocate for youth activities within the community.

     The Tucson Airport Authority, TAA, is a nonprofit entity created by State Charter in 1948. Composed of 115 community members, the Authority has a nine-member board of directors that meets monthly. TAA President/CEO Bonnie Allin, oversees day-to-day operations, and a staff of 300 employees. TAA manages Tucson International Airport and Ryan Airfield.
