TAA Awards Taxicab Contracts
At a meeting today the Tucson Airport Authority Board of Directors awarded contracts to four taxicab companies that will provide service to arriving passengers at Tucson International Airport
Flash Cab, LLC; AAA Cab Service, Inc. dba Yellow Cab; Total Transit, Inc. dba Discount Cab; and AAA Airport Cabs, LLC. were granted four-year contracts that will begin November 1, 2010, and contain an option for a one-year renewal.
Each of the four companies will provide eight new vehicles including one handicapped accessible van in their fleet. Vehicle makes and models will include Chevrolet Impalas, Ford Crown Victorias, and Toyota Prius hybrids. Among other requirements, all must have State certified meters, drivers are required to adhere to a dress code and behave in a professional manner, and both drivers and vehicles are subject to random inspections by TAA ground transportation staff to insure compliance with regulations.

The Tucson Airport Authority, TAA, is a nonprofit entity created by State Charter in 1948. Composed of 115 community members, the Authority has a nine-member board of directors that meets monthly. TAA President/CEO Bonnie Allin, oversees day-to-day operations, and a staff of 300 employees. TAA manages Tucson International Airport and Ryan Airfield.
